Settling into life…

Well, life has been rather slow these past two weeks for this new Farnsworth Family.  Two weeks ago I worked my first full 40 hour week:) Finally.  And I enjoyed it.  I was happy to discover that I was excited to go to work in the morning rather than just having a feeling of dread (I only worked SUPER boring minimum wage jobs previously.)  That weekend we visited Red Robin (YUM), forgot cash to tip the waiter, no worries though-we scrounged up enough change to equal about 1.50 and gave her a buy-1-get-1 free movie ticket.  We felt kind of bad about that one.

We also went to an Art exhibit down town.  It was in an old, non air conditioned building, with several different artist’s work displayed.  It was all modern work, which I love because it has the ability to show so much emotion.  The event was a wine and cheese event, but needless to say we did not partake of either, as we don’t drink wine, and we don’t eat cheese that has been sitting in a 85 degree room for longer than 30 seconds.  This was a blast.

Last week Tony was out town in San Jose area at a Velocity conference that focused the problems that cause the internet to be slow, which of those problems it was most effective to fix, and how to fix them.  He really enjoyed it, and took more notes that I ever did in all my classes in one semester combined.  (I am not a light note taker.)  I was very proud of him.

While Tony was in CA, I stayed here and enjoyed myself.  I did not eat one dinner with meat in it (I grew up eating less meat in a month than we do now in week:)  I had pancakes with peanut butter and syrup, after which I did not feel like an adult.  I exercised, did yoga, read my book, and sat in the sun at the pool.  It was wonderful.

I also had an icecream swap with Alisha-Tony and I had made cake batter ice cream with gummy bears, (using fun-fetti).  YUM:)  The next night we had a girls night out to a Mexican Restaurant.  My week was great, but I was really happy to have Tony back-life at home was pretty boring without someone to share it with.

Free Food, Movies and More

This week was kinda slow, however we did manage to get free sandwiches at chick-fil-a, (for those that you don’t know, chick-fil-a is a fast food restaurant that serves….yup.  chicken.  Its not actually too bad.  As we walked in, we were redirected to a blocked off part of the fast food restaurant complete with paper table cloths, plastic platters, rolled napkins, and helium balloons.  We were shown a seat and served a full meal complete with a giant soda and fries (yum.)  The waiter even checked on us 3 times and cleared our table when we were finished.  We were floored.

Friday we went to Prince of Persia-we were a little worried when we got there and saw the line that wrapped around the corner. Twice.  Everyone in that line was a middle aged woman dressed ready for a serious night on the town.  We were standing there with out motorcycle helmets and jackets, and felt slightly out of place.  Good thing that line was for the opening night of Sex and the City, not Prince of Persia.  The movie was good (I even approved of it).  It was a Persia style Pirates of the Caribbean.

The longer I live in Texas, the more I understand that the saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas” is true.  Including the friendly attitudes.  People talk to you at the Post Office, in the Movie Theater, and the Passport Office, all of which are uninvited conversations, and usually are quite amusing.

Somehow we ended up at Bass Pro Shop, not sure how that happened, but we did.  They had live fish and lots of guns.  We made a major investment at this store: we put 25 cents toward the shooting gallery.  Tony was amazing at this game, (I wonder where he got all his practice) and I failed miserably.

Our LED Lamp Project

We threw in the towel for attempting to buy a lamp we liked and decided to make one. It was a process but boy was it fun. We decided to make a lamp for our living room (due to the darkness it did contain). It involved lots of eBay shopping, tiles glue’in , led soldering fun! Follow the pictures below to see the process…

Step 1: soldering the LEDS together

This was a great project, great product and a good team effort. It took about a week to build and included alot of trial and error but we are able to draw many parallels from what we learned on this project into our married life it is an investment of a lifetime! this light will shine long (because they are LED’s not bulbs) just like the love we have for one another will :)

Wow that last paragraph was “AWESOMELY CHEESY” and pretty much sums up our married.

Thanks for visiting our Blog and Stay turned for more FUN 2 COME!

Marriage and More

Its has been a while since my last post so here is an update…

December 30, 2009 i proposed to my girlfriend Meghan Smith and she said yes. Love is such a great thing. While we know the road will not be all sunshine and glitter we are taking in the rays while the clouds are gone. Meghan is the best thing that has ever happened to me and im just THRILLED that she feels the same way. Wedding plans are already underway for our marriage on April 24, 2010 in the Portland Oregon temple. We have colors, cakes, registries and flowers galore to decide on. Luckly my beautiful fiancee has pretty much had all the details planned since she was 4 so… you could say we are prepare for this :)

What else is new?

Besides the engagement i went to Baltimore and spent time with my family and it was a blast! Going to the Mall in DC and getting pie in little Italy(downtown Baltimore). But my favorite part was my sister Michelle wearing her favorite Christmas present of the year that i gave her ;)

These are the Turkey hands we made for FHE this week. We traced our hands and made turkeys out of them and put what we are thankful for on them. My turkey is roaming in the mountains so i think its the most happy and thankful of the bunch. We really got a chance to show all those primary kids that we could put up cool hand made crafts too…

The final putt putt hole. Its the alamo!

So im not so good at putt putt. I feel ashamed because i worked at Pheasant Run Golf Coarse for over 4 years and had a handycap so low that numbers cannot display it! I’m not sure what went wrong here. I think it is because there were hazards on this coarse i had never seen inall my years at a real golf coarse.

Whistling While I Work

This week was the beginning of what will be many busy work weeks until thanksgiving week is able to grace me with its presence. This week was my first 50hr Work week…. and i didn’t even work on Saturday! It was fun in a exhausting kinda way, but at least i get overtime. Thank goodness for that.

Service

Work wasn’t the only thing i did this week i was able to help clean up a park in San Antonio. It was organized by USAA but of coarse all of us BYU-Idaho Grads teamed together to help out. It was a blast. I worked to put together a few sets of bleachers. The First one took 1.5 hours to complete and the second took 1/2 hr. Go figure. The city workers said that the bleacher benches we put together would be stolen within the next 2 weeks. They trade the metal in for $. After that the workers put wood planks down. Steve and i will have to check back in a few weeks to see how they held up. Along with building benches we painted lines on basketball courts, built fences and assembled a play scape. The best part was that it was 70’s and a cool breeze… IN NOVEMBER!
I LOVE SAN ANTONIO!

All in all a busy week of work/play and fun!

Marching Band Memories

This weekend I went to my cousin’s Marching band performance at the Alamo Dome in down town San Antonio and it was a blast. Their High school has only been around for 2 years and they are doing great.

Of coarse this took me back to my days in marching band, In fact the band i was in was very competitive and one of our old rival bands is from san antonio and i got a chance to see them as well this weekend which was fun. Below is a video of the year we won national championships. I have a chime solo at 6:44 and 6:57. The theme was from the book 1984 and was alot of fun. Enjoy

The Week of Wierd

This was a great week. Work was as busy as ever putting in my usual 50hrs which at this time i strangely love. But there was a handfull of events and pictures that i collected this week that i feel need to be shared with the rest of the world.

1.

Below is a magic broom. Why magic you say? Steve (my roomate) claims that the planets are in a special alignment for the next few days or weeks allowing the broom to stand completely on its own. Im testing the theory. The boom has been upright by itself for over 38 hours now.

A the magic broom standing on its own

2.

Duct Tape its a wonder full thing right? You can do anything with it! I found out my cousins love duct tape. Possible too much…. they ask for duct tape for christmas becuase they think it is that awesome! All i have to say it what they made from the duct tape is even BETTER!

Ryan's Camo Duct take jacket. Mabye he plans on hunting with it?

Yes duct tape flip flops. You know your looking at this picture in pure jealousy ... its ok

3.

Finally i went to a college pep rally for a college i have never attended, and for a basketball team i will most likely never go see. But it was fun. they had a marching band, cheer routines and slam dunk contest, the whole works. The cool thing was this video below of some guys “stomping the yard” that were great. I just didn’t know that people actually did this other that in the movie that made if famous. So enjoy
